Manny Pacquiao publishes bible verse that says gay people should be killed

Manny Pacquiao does not back down from his position against homosexuality.

Less than a day after the Filipino boxer and politician lost his sponsorship deal with Nike because he compared gays to animals, Pacquiao took to Instagram early Thursday morning and posted Bible verses that support His point of view.

One of them, Leviticus 20:13, unequivocally states that homosexuals are to be killed:

“If a man has sex with a man like you have with a woman, both of them have done what is loathsome. They must be put to death; their blood will fall back on their heads.

Pacquiao’s post lasted around two hours and received over 18,000 likes before it was deleted. Philippine news agency ABS-CBN captured a screenshot of the message before it was deleted.

Pacquiao, a member of the Philippine House of Representatives, included other Bible verses in his article, including Luke 6: 22-23, an apparent reference to his current situation:

“Blessed are you when people hate you, exclude you, insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of man. Rejoice on this day and jump for joy, for great is your reward in heaven. Because that’s how their ancestors treated the prophets.

Pacquiao was one of several candidates for the Philippine Senate who were recently asked about their views on same-sex marriage in a recent interview broadcast by Philippine television channel TV5.

“This is common sense. Will you see animals where the male is to the male and the female is to the female? Pacquiao replied.

“The animals are better. They know how to distinguish the male from the female. If we approve [of] male on male, female on female, then man is worse than animals.

He apologized for his statement earlier this week but maintained his point of view.

“I’m sorry I hurt people by comparing gays to animals,” he wrote on Instagram. “Please forgive me for those I hurt. I still believe that I am against same-sex marriage because of what the Bible says, but I do not condemn LGBT people. I love you all with the love of the Lord. God bless you all and I pray for you.
